Zhichao Lu was selected as the eighth batch of outstanding postdoctoral fellows

Recently, after review by the school’s post-doctoral work leading group, it is proposed to recommend a total of 14 post-doctoral fellows from the school as the eighth batch of outstanding post-doctoral fellows. Dr. Zhichao Lu from the EMI research group is the only candidate in the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Zhichao Lu received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Michigan State University in the United States in 2020; he is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology. Dr. Zhichao Lu’s research field is evolutionary machine learning (specifically including evolutionary neural network architecture search, automated machine learning, machine learning-assisted evolutionary algorithms, etc.). He has published 15 papers in the past 5 years, many of which have been published in CVPR, ECCV, IEEE TPAMI and other machine vision CCF-A conferences and journals; apply research results to important engineering and scientific research fields such as deep learning model optimization and supply chain management. Dr. Zhichao Lu won the Best Paper Award at the 2019 GECCO International Conference (Evolutionary Machine Learning Branch).

Since the establishment of the EMI research group in September 2018, three outstanding postdoctoral fellows, He Cheng, Danial Yazdani, and Lu Zhichao, have joined, all of whom were selected as the “Principal Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow” (the only one in the department that year). Among them, He Cheng has left the station and remains as a research assistant professor (associate researcher).
